Oil Springs is bringing back a family favourite.
The municipality is hosting Family Fun Fest Aug. 16 and 17.
“The municipality used to do a family day and we haven’t had one for a couple of years, so we thought we would bring it back,” says Oil Springs Councillor Connie McFadden, who is part of the Parks and Recreation Committee organizing the day-long event. “There are a lot of young families in town now and this gives them something to do.”
The event starts Aug 16 with two movies shown on the big screen, outdoors at the Youth Centre; How to Train Your Dragon 3 and A Dog’s Way Home.
The event Saturday starts at 1 pm with inflatables, games and face painting as well as music by local artists including Demi Krall, Trevor Wagner, Colt & Dave and the Southlanders, Josh O’Hara and Jared Frew and the Tail Draggers and Dog Patch to top off the day.
McFadden says all the events are free with the exception of the Beef on a Bun Supper hosted by the Masonic Lodge.
Tickets for the dinner are on sale at the municipal centre.
And while McFadden is hopeful the event will bring out a lot of people from Oil Springs, she says people from neighbouring municipalities are welcome as well.
