The cowboys and cowgirls have arrived in Alvinston.
The Brooke-Alvinston Fair Board is gearing up for the Alvinston Pro Rodeo which starts at 7 pm Friday.
Dan Cumming says the fair board has been preparing the grounds for the last couple of weeks and competitors from around the world began arriving Wednesday.
“We have a lot of competitors this year. We added a third performance this year and we will still have to run some events during off performance times so that everyone is able to get their runs in. Most of the overflow events are roping and barrel racing events,” says Cummings. There will be a local flavour to the event with Rod and Tamara Weese and Tyler Foster competing in the three day event.
Cumming says ticket sales are already going well. “Online sales are way up this year and we were later than last year getting tickets into outlets but they are there now and people are picking them up.”
There is also a rough campgrounds for up to 150 people. Cummings says over 40 sites have already been booked.
