Here comes the cold – again

Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a Cold Weather Alert for Lambton County – the eighth this year. The current temperature of -16°C this morning initiated the alert. Sarnia- Lambton WMS Presbyterial Annual meeting was held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Petrolia  recently. Rev. Janine Dekker from Laurel Lea St. Matthew’s led the Bible Study on the Feeding of the Five Thousand emphasizing the importance of the verbs in this parable. Guest speaker was Tina Hunter, Director of the Petrolia branch of the Pregnancy Option and Support Centre.

Petrolia prepares for a weekend of family fun

Petrolia and area families will have lots to do on the Family Day weekend. A number of family friendly activities are planned including a snow sculpture contest according to Petrolia’s marketing manager, Laurissa Ellsworth. Starting Saturday until February 17 the town is encouraging residents to get outside and enter their snow sculpture contest.  This year’s theme is “Under the Sea”

Agricultural Society honours long-time volunteers

A number of awards were presented including to John and Barb Racher who have volunteered for the fair board for 40 years. The pair were presented with a plaque for the Ontario Association of Agriculture Societies Agricultural Accomplishment Award by agriculture society president Judy Krall at the event.
