More than 30 charges laid, $500k of property returned after March arrest

A Petrolia man is facing over 30 charges after an incident in March.

Lambton OPP are just releasing information about an incident March 1 in St Clair Township which was the subject of an investigation by the Special Investigations Unit. Once the SIU invokes its mandate, details of what happened cannot be released until the investigation is complete.

In a news release, OPP said on March 1 around 8:10 am, the OPP found a stolen vehicle and trailer on Courtright Line in St. Clair Township. Someone was see near the pickup and tried to flee when officers arrived. The man was taken into custody after resisting arrest.

Four officers who were involved in the arrest were investigated after a man’s nose was broken while officers attempted to arrest him. The SIU ruled they used reasonable force considering the suspect was trying to flee in a stolen pickup.

OPP investigated multiple thefts and break-and-enters throughout Lambton and were able to link them together. The value of property that has been recovered and returned to the owners is more than $500,000. 

Cody PRICE, 32, of Petrolia, is facing 31 charges including 13 counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime, six counts of of break and enter, three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, four counts of theft over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, resisting arrest and failing to comply with a bail order.
