The new standard for Oil Springs
May 23, 2014
Oil Springs Mayor Ian Veen displays the village’s new flag. For years, the town’s crest appeared on a yellow flag but in April, Oil Springs decided to spruce it up. “Blues and greens have been incorporated into our new crest,” says Karen Cook, deputy-clerk treasurer. “They didn’t change the design of the logo, they just added colour to it…It still has the same crest and the same pictures and the oil derrick in it has been made more prominent.” The new flag will soon be flying at the municipal office and Veen plans to present the new standard to Warden Todd Case to fly in the council chambers. The village has also had a flag made for the 150th anniversary of the village in 2015. Cook says residents can order a flag for $160.
