Minor hockey players appear to be exempt from vaccine passports
September 14, 2021
It appears kids playing minor sports indoors, including hockey, will not have to show a vaccine passport.
The provincial government is giving an update of the policy this afternoon. There was some concern voiced by parents in minor hockey that players would have to show they had been vaccinated against COVID-19 to play.
However, in a technical document released this morning, the exemptions show children under 12 will be exempt from the vaccine passports as would “patrons under 18 years of age who are entering the indoor premises of a facility used for sports and recreational facilities soley for the purpose of actively participating in an organized sport, in accordance with Ministry of Health guidance.”
Health Minister Christine Elliott and Ontario’s chief medical officer of health will hold a news briefing at 1 pm today.
