They met their goal and they did it before the deadline.

The Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital Auxiliary officials say they have reached their $20,000 to purchase the LUCAS Chest Compression Machine for the hospital.

The mechanical chest compression device is used in resuscitation efforts. The lithium battery powered computerized unit is designed to give textbook CPR to a patient in distress. That could free up medical staff to work on the patients other needs.

The auxiliary held a community meeting to show off the unit and announced it planned to raise the $20,000 by June. May 25, they had reached their goal.

The auxiliary will be hosting an open house June 1 at the Petrolia Legion starting at 7 pm to thank the members of the community.
