Sarnia’s Carter Fogarty scored twice, including the game-winning goal at 7:19 of the third period, to lead Drummondville over Baie-Comeau, 5-3 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on the weekend.
The former Legionnaire now has two goals and an assist in three games with Drummondville since signing with the QMJHL team last week.
Prior to heading east, he was among the top scorers in the OJHL with 14 goals and 29 points in 15 games with the Pickering Panthers.

Several players with local ties are competing this week at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in the Maritimes.
Sting rookies Brenner Lammens and Kaden Aucoin are both on Canada White along with Sarnia’s Matthew Henderson of the Kingston Frontenacs. Henderson’s parents are both from Petrolia. The Canada Red roster includes Corunna’s Johnny McLaughlin while the American roster includes Grand Bend’s Kane Barch and Broden McArthur. The latter being the son of former Sting Dustin McArthur. The tournament, in Truro, Nova Scotia, continues until Saturday.

Shortstop Ashton Gaulton is heading to the University of Nebraska Omaha on a full ride D-1 baseball scholarship with the Mavericks.
The Mooretown product is a graduate of the Great Lake Canadian and Sarnia Brigade minor baseball programs. He took part in the Blue Jays Future Showcase tournament at the Rogers Centre in September.
The Mavs play in the Summit League along with schools from Oklahoma, North and South Dakota, Colorado and Minnesota.
Gaulton will begin his collegiate career next August.

Sarnia’s Lindsey Barwitzki and her University of Toronto Varsity Blues will be the third seed in the eight- team national women’s university soccer tournament this week in Hamilton.
The Northern trained defender and her mates punched their ticket to the finals with a 1-nil win over Guelph in the OUA championship match last weekend.
She had played the past four seasons with the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton.
St. Patrick’s grad Gracie Howell is also on the Toronto roster. The defender made one appearance for the Blues this season.
Meantime, Port Lambton’s Samantha St. Croix has been chosen as the first team OUA West division all-star goalkeeper this season. The Wallaceburg District high school grad only allowed four goals in
11 games this season and had six shutouts. She and her Western teammates lost out 1-nil to Toronto in the semi-finals.

The Sarnia-Lambton Jr. Sting under-18 AAA team went 2-2 at a showcase tournament in Brantford last weekend.
The Sting beat the top ranked u-18 AAA team in the province Waterloo, 2-1 and downed the host squad, 4-1.
Dante Andali led the Sting with four goals.
The team is coached by Kaden Babcock, Blake Butler and Alex McFadden.

Anton Smirnov scored his third goal in his past two games in the opening minute of play but that was all that the Sarnia Legionnaires could muster in an 8-1 loss to the Listowel Cyclones at Pat Stapleton Arena
Oct. 30. Connor Davis and Andrew Gaulton combined to make 49 stops as Listowel outshot Sarnia, 57-22.
