Two Enniskillen barns destroyed in fire

November 5, 2024

Firefighters pour water on what is left of an equipment shed on Shiloh Line Tuesday afternoon.

Strong south winds fanned the flames, destroying this shed and another barn beside it within minutes.

Firefighters from Oil Springs/South Enniskillen and Petrolial/North Enniskillen worked together, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant to fight the blaze. And they kept an eye on a house next door which at time was surrounded by thick, black smoke.

Officials were not immediately able to say what caused the fire nor what the estimated damage was.

Oil Springs Chief Al Charlton says the farmer was unable to get the equipment out of the barn. Charlton said late Tuesday no one was injured.
