Essex defeats LCCVI in SWOSSA volleyball

The Jr. Girls Lancers, seen here playing John McGregor for the Lambton-Kent Championship, were unable to extend their winning ways at SWOSSA.
The five-time SWOSSA champions Essex Raiders were just too much for the LCCVI Lancers.
The Raiders defeated the Lancer Jr. Girls at the SWOSSA volleyball final yesterday.
The Lancers were able to eek out one win – the first set 27-25. Then the Raiders took over winning the match 19-25 and 14-25.
“They were able to read our weaknesses and put it there,” says Coach Nancy Gould. “They’re well polished. We were beat by a better team.”
But Gould is hopeful for next year. “This is a Grade 9 team for the most part…so there is lots of potential for the future.”
