A 29-year veteran of the OPP is facing charges of assault with a weapon after an investigation by the OPP’s Professional Standards Bureau.

Few details about the incident are being released. A news release from the OPP says the charges stem from an incident on Dec. 31. Details of where the incident occurred, the circumstances around it, if the person involved was male or female or if the person was injured were not released by the OPP saying those details are part of the current investigation.

Officials did say there is “no outstanding incidents before the court related to the original incident.”

Cons. Carmen Bressette of the Lambton OPP detachment has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and will appear in court June 9.

He’s been assigned to administrative duties until the charges are dealt with.

PW abandons Egremont Road appeal
