Petrolia Fire looking for videos promoting smoke detectors
September 15, 2014
The Petrolia North Enniskillen Fire Department is looking for some action.
Deputy Chief Tim Williams says the department is hosting a video contest to promote the use of smoke detectors.
Williams is looking for a one-minute video promoting the use of smoke detectors and this year’s Fire Prevention Week theme “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives; Test yours Every Month.”
The contest is open to everyone with a grand prize of $500.
“The kids have got this (message) down pat, it’s the parents we have to get to,” says Williams. “It’s the parents that are running around, that forget they haven’t check it two years. If we get kids involved, that will get the parents involved.”
Entries into the video contest can be submitted by email to [email protected] until Sept. 30 at 6 pm.
