Highway 402 near Watford this afternoon – the scene of a multi-vehicle accident.
Highway 402 is slowly reopening after a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon
Around 1 pm Thursday the OPP, firefighters and paramedics were called to the highway for a multi-vehicle accident. The OPP say early reports are that four people with unknown injuries were transported out of the area – including by air ambulance. About 100 vehicles behind the collision had to be re-routed.
Just before 5 pm the OPP said they would not be towing any vehicles out of the ditches or off of the 402 until it was “absolutely safe to do so.”
Around 6pm, the eastbound side of the highway reopened between Forest Road and Strathroy. The OPP’s Twitter feed at 9:30 pm said the westbound lanes were reopening slowly.
