Petrolia Discovery general manager passes away

The long-time manager of Petrolia Discovery has passed away.

Donna McIlmoyle passed away Friday at Four Counties Hospital in Newbury. Sources say she had been battling cancer.

McIlmoyle had been the general manager of Petrolia Discovery historic site for over a decade and had recently lead to the foundation’s board of directors to gain an operating loan from the Sarnia Lambton Business Development Corporation which allowed the Discovery to regain stronger financial footing after several difficult years.

McIlmoyle leaves behind three children and their partners and 11 grandchildren.

She was 63.

Avian flu detected in Lambton poultry operation

The Independent Lambton Public Health officials say there has been a confirmed report of Avian influenza in a poultry flock. In a news release, officials said the Ontario Ministry of Health and Agriculture as well as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating the situation.
