April 28, 2016
A Toronto area man is facing charges after a Petrolia resident complained of an aggressive door-to-door salesman.
Lambton OPP were called to Joe Street where a homeowner had been approached by a man trying to sell water heaters. OPP say the sales pitch was a scam.
Police arrested 28-year-old Kim Minsoo of North York and was charged with unfair practices under the Consumer Protection Act. He’ll be in court June 10. A conviction carries a penalty of a restitution, a fine of up to $50,000 and two years in jail.
Police also called in Canada Border Services after finding the man may have been illegally in Canada at the time.
