Friends set up trust fund for family of accident victim
May 20, 2016
Friends of a Petrolia woman killed in a car crash are hoping to raise some money for the young family she left behind.
On May 5, Sandra McKelvie-Brown died when she was thrown from an SUV which crashed on Petrolia Line. Her husband and two children, Liam, 5, and Gracey, 1, were also inside but are okay.
Cathy Grandville’s grandson is a friend of Liam. She didn’t know McKelvie-Brown well but says one thing was clear, she loved being a mother.
“She was so sweet. Those kids were everything to her,” she says. “She was a wonderful woman who would do anything for anyone.”
Aside from the anguish of losing a mother and wife, the family is facing other difficulties. McKelvie-Brown’s husband will have to undergo surgery for a previous shoulder problem in the near future leaving the family in a potentially difficult financial spot. When Grandville, heard about the accident and the coming surgery she knew “I thought I need to so something.”
Working with TD Canada Trust, Grandville has set up a trust fund for the family. Anyone wishing to help can go to any branch of TD and make a donation to the Family of Sandra McKelvie Brown.
