Province offering online health and safety training courses
July 6, 2020
Ontario has a new online tool to help teach all the health and safety procedures including some of the issues around COVID-19. Employment Ontario will be offering the free online workplace health and safety training. Officials say the online courses will make it easier for job seekers and workers to get essential qualifications, while practicing physical distancing and preventing the spread of COVID-19. There are 10 courses including infection control, conducting health and safety incident investigations, ladder safety, slips, trips and falls prevention, and preventing workplace violence and harassment. Officials hope it will help current health and safety committee members complete their training due to expire at the end of August. They have until November to finish the courses. “This is the first time this type of online safety training has been made available at no cost to people who have lost their jobs and I am confident it will be an effective way to prepare people to rejoin the workforce safely,” said Minister Monte McNaughton in a news release. “The training is free and accessible from anywhere, so people can learn from their own homes.” |
