Vasey sworn in as new Plympton-Wyoming councillor
July 30, 2020
Like all things in the age of COVID-19, the swearing in of former Wyoming Fire Chief Mike Vasey as the new councillor for Plympton-Wyoming was unusual.
Vasey took the oath of office Wednesday, with just members of council and a few relatives in the room. Normally, the meeting would be open to all public and media but due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the number of people allowed in the room was capped to permit proper social distancing.
After the ceremony, Vasey posed for a portrait for The Independent in the lobby.
He fills the vacany left by the death of long-time councillor Ron Schenk.
