Yearly tree giveaway in Petrolia won’t be in person this year
October 16, 2020
Petrolia residents can get a free tree again this October.
But the process will be a little different this year.
Every year, the town gives away a limited number of free trees to town residents – one per house. It is a bid to increase the town’s tree cover. This year eight varieties are being offered everything from lilac and tulip trees to maples and native trees like the hackberry.
Instead of going into town hall this year, residents are asked to call town hall starting at 8:30 am Oct. 20 to avoid lineups in the age of COVID-19.
They’ll then be told how they can pick up their certificate for their planting.
