Senior dies in Petrolia Line/Kimball Road accident

A 92 year-old Wallaceburg man has died in a accident at the corner of Petrolia Line and Kimball Road.

Around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, police were called to the corner for an collision with two vehicles. One driver was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. Ernie Miller, 92, of Wallaceburg died there.

Police are still investigating and have not said yet whether charges will be laid.

This is the second accident which claimed a life at that corner in the last six months. In May, a Glencoe truck driver died in an crash there.

That led to calls from neighbours to do something to improve the corner. Jolene DeGurse-MacDonald wrote a letter to politicians in Lambton urging them to build a roundabout at the corner after seeing dozens of accidents there over her lifetime.

Lambton County councillors agreed to include a roundabout in the 2021 budget for the corner however whether it will be approved is uncertain.

Since the May accident, a four way flashing light has been installed over the intersection.
