Four more COVID-19 outbreaks in Lambton

January 9, 2021

Four new outbreaks have been declared by Lambton Public Health – two in long term care homes.

As reported online by The Independent Friday, Fiddicks in Petrolia is now in outbreak with one staff member ill. Twin Lakes Terrace Nursing and Retirement Home in Sarnia is also now in outbreak with two staff members testing positive for COVID-19.

That means nine long term care homes in Lambton are considered in outbreak.

Lambton Public Health declares an outbreak in long term care homes when there is just one case either in staff or residents.

The other two outbreaks reported would be in a workplace however Lambton Public Health doesn’t report those statistics on the weekend. Workplace outbreaks are declared when two or more cases can be linked to a single workplace.

In all there were 46 new cases reported by Lambton Public Health Saturday with 206 people actively ill – that’s down 15. Another 16 people are listed as recovered.

The province is reporting 3,443 new cases Saturday and 40 more deaths; 23 of those deaths were in long term care homes.
