Lambton Meadowview clear of COVID-19

Lambton Meadowview in Petrolia is now clear of COVID-19.

The home was one of 10 in outbreak after two staff members tested positive for the virus. Lambton Public Health declared the outbreak over Wednesday.

The situation is still unstable of Village on the St. Clair in Sarnia where another staff member has tested positive. That brings the number of cases to 28 in the retirement village including 21 staff. Twin Lakes Terrace has 12 COVID-19 positive residents and three staff.

Trillium Village in Sarnia is also reporting four staff members tested positive. Vision Nursing Home is also in outbreak after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

In all, there are now seven long term care homes in Sarnia with outbreaks.

Lambton Public Health is reporting 23 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday with 229 people actively ill – 32 less than Tuesday. There have been 55 recoveries. Bluewater Health reported 11 people in hospital with COVID-19 including one in the intensive care unit.

Another 62 people have died of COVID-19 in Ontario as the province registered another 3,326 cases today. For the second day in a row 34 of the deaths are in long term care. Since September 1,215 seniors in care homes have died of COVID-19.

LCCVI’s Zelenchuk win boys’ singles tennis crown

Yarko Zelecnhuk won the boys’ singles banner at the LKSSAA north division tennis tournament this week. The LCCVI student will now advance to the overall LK championship tournament next Tuesday in Chatham.
