Early morning fire on Princess St in Petrolia
June 21, 2021
The residents of a Petrolia house were able to get out safely after finding smoke in their home.
Fire crews were called to the home on Princess St around 5:30 am, says Chief Jay Arns. By then, the residents had left the building.
Firefighters found a working basement fire and were able put it out quickly, says Arns.
The chief says smoking materials caught fire to a mattress in the basement. The downstairs had heavy fire damage and there was smoke damage throughout the home.
Arns estimates about $25,000 damage was done.
