Temporary shelter still needed until more housing is ready

Martin name Oil Springs Senior of the Year
July 16, 2021
An Oil Springs senior who uses her walks to help the community has been named Senior of the Year.
Cathy Martin has been trying to keep Oil Springs tidy for about 20 years, taking two bags with her on her walk, one for recycling and one for garbage, cleaning up the streets as she walks
Martin also helps out with local charities on foot, going door-ro-door canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society over the years.
While the Senior of the Year is given out for volunteerism in the community, many likely know Martin from her time as librarian at the Oil Springs Library. She’s worked at libraries across Lambton County for 17 years.
