Some LCCVI students join mask protest
February 11, 2022
Some LCCVI students joined a protest billed as a province-wide walkout this afternoon.
The Ontario Walk-Out information was circulated on social media saying the students would be asking for an end to mask mandates.
In Petrolia, some students jumped the gun and walked out at noon. At 2 pm, about 50 students stood in front of LCCVI, with one of the teens holding a sign asking for the end to mandates.
Some of the students remained in class.
Both the public and separate school boards said they knew about the potential for a walkout and added the students had a right to state their opinion about issues. And both board said the students would not be disciplined for being part of the action.
