Playoff hockey begins in Petrolia

After an extraordinarily long layoff, the Petrolia Squires begin their Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior A semi-final this Saturday at Greenwood. Petrolia will host Milverton at 8:30 pm.

Game two is on the road Sunday afternoon at 3 pm..

With a combination of the Christmas break, an extended COVID-19 shutdown and a first-round playoff bye, the Squires haven’t played in more than two months, Their last game was Dec. 17.

Milverton advanced beating Creemore in a best-of-three qualifying series.
The Squires and Four-Wheel Drives split two games during the abbreviated regular season, both in Perth East.

Milverton won 6-3 in late October while Petrolia recorded a season-high in goals with an 8-6 triumph in late November.

Proposed Pinery management plan calls for removing about 300 campsites to protect the dunes
