Squires hope to crush Shallow Lake in first game of final series Saturday

The Petrolia Squires open their Western Ontario Athletic Association senior “A” championship series at home this Saturday.  

They’ll host the Shallow Lake Crushers in game one of the best-of-seven series this Saturday at Greenwood at 7:30. The second team will be in the Owen Sound-area community the following Saturday, March 26. The teams did not meet during the abbreviated regular season this year.  

After receiving a first-round playoff bye, the Squires swept Milverton in four straight games while Shallow Lake needed seven games to dispose of Lucknow.  
The Crushers forced a decisive game with a 1-0 triumph Friday before beating Lucknow, 4-3 in overtime in game seven Saturday.

The Squires won the league’s A trophy in 2018.
