The Petrolia Squires open their Western Ontario Athletic Association senior “A” championship series at home this Saturday.
They’ll host the Shallow Lake Crushers in game one of the best-of-seven series this Saturday at Greenwood at 7:30. The second team will be in the Owen Sound-area community the following Saturday, March 26. The teams did not meet during the abbreviated regular season this year.
After receiving a first-round playoff bye, the Squires swept Milverton in four straight games while Shallow Lake needed seven games to dispose of Lucknow.
The Crushers forced a decisive game with a 1-0 triumph Friday before beating Lucknow, 4-3 in overtime in game seven Saturday.
The Squires won the league’s A trophy in 2018.
