Twenty years of ‘bringing joy’ and a some jingle to merchants
Port Lambton geologist running for The New Blue Party
March 17, 2022
There will be a new party on the ballot during the June provincial election.
The New Blue Party was formed by ousted MPP Belinda Karahalios and her husband, Jim, who has been a life long Conservative and ran for the federal leadership against Erin O’Toole.
They believe the current Conservative Part is beyond fixing and have formed The New Blue, planning to run 124 candidates in Ontario.
In the Sarnia-Lambton riding, Keith Benn has been acclaimed as the party’s candidate. Benn, who holds a doctorate in geology, has been a professor at the University of Ottawa and now works as a geologist in the mining industry in Canada and abroad. He’s an independent consultant and lives in Port Lambton.
Benn was appointed in Jan. 2021 to an expert panel to study the issue of contaminated wells in North Kent. Dozens of wells were filled with black sediment after Samsung began building and operating the North Kent Wind project.
While the panel has completed its work, the results of that report have yet to be released.
The Ontario election is June 2.
