One dead after canoe capsizes near Ipperwash

One person has died after a canoe overturned in Lake Huron near Ipperwash Beach.

Around 11 am Wednesday, Lambton OPP were called after a canoe overturned the lake.

Police, Kettle and Stony Point Fire, Lambton Shores Fire, Canadian Coast Guard, US Goast Guard, Lambton paramedics and members of the community all worked together to pull the two people from the water. They were transported to hospital.

One person is in serious but stable condition. The other died at the hospital.

Police have not yet released the names of the people pulled from the water.

PW abandons Egremont Road appeal
