The Petrolia Flyers could clinch the Tier Two championship tonight.

They host the Blenheim Blades tonight at the Greenwood Rec Centre starting at 7:30 pm.

The Flyers paved the way to this point with two wins in the last week.

Phoenix Timmington converted a pass from Andrew Jaques at 1:53 of overtime Sunday in Blenheim to give the Petrolia Flyers a 4-3 win over Blades.  The Flyers now lead the best-of-seven tier two final, three games to one.  Game five is at Greenwood on Thursday night at 7:30.

Clay Dolbear scored his second of the game with an extra attacker late in the third period to send the contest to extra time.  The Alvinston product now has nine goals in seven tier two playoff games this season.  Daniel Gibson had the other Petrolia.  He has a goal in three of his last four contests and is riding a four-game point scoring streak. Tyler Richardson made 48 saves, including 20 in the first period when the home team outshot Petrolia, 22-5. Richardson is now 6-1-1 in the consolation playoffs with a 2.84 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage.

Tate Bowden had one of the goals for the Blades.  It was his first game back after serving a seven-game suspension for uttering a racial slur to Bo Doxtator of the Mooretown Flags in the first round of the postseason.

Last Thursday at home, Michael Vanek scored twice, and Richardson made 38 stops as the Flyers downed the Blades, 4-1.  Gibson and Jaques had the others. Keegan Watson contributed two assists.

If the Blades can stave off elimination on Thursday, game six will be in Blenheim on Sunday at 7.
