Flyers lose heartbreak in Tier Two championship

The Petrolia Flyers lost the PJHL Tier Two title 3-2 to Hagarsville in a heart breaker.

The Flyers advanced to Sunday’s final with a win over Walkerton in the weekend series.

Peyton Armitage was player of the game leading Petrolia to a 4-1 win over Walkerton. Armitage had the game-winning goal and added two assists.

Andrew Jaques scored twice and added an assist with Landon Marcy adding the other Petrolia marker.

Daniel Gibson, Michael Vanek, Keegan Watson and Logan O’Leary-DiLosa all picked up assists.

Tyler Richardson stopped 22 of 23 shots for the win between the pipes. Petrolia outshot Walkerton, 32-23.

The Flyers took on Hagersville in the championship contest this (Sunday) afternoon. Logan O’Leary-DiLosa tied up the game in the second. Michael Vanek’s goal at 18 minutes in the third put the Flyers out in front. But Hagarsville’s Marcus Lazareth scored 43 seconds later – his second of the afternoon – tying up the game.

Hagersville Forward Joey Stimac scored at 7:14 to lift the Hawks to the Tier Two victory.

Petrolia Water intake contractor approved
