High flying Lancers leap into regionals

LCCVI’s high jump team was flying high at SWOSSAA this week.

Five Lancer leapers landed top six finishes to advance to the OFSSAA regional meet next Friday and Saturday in Windsor.

Jayln Jackson took home first in the Sr. Girls High Jump with a jump of 1.47m.

Darius Landon and Tyler McGrail tied for second in Jr. Boys High Jump with a leap of 1:65 m. McGrail also placed second in Jr. Boys Long Jump with leap of 5.88 m.

Pavla Gerrits placed second in the Jr. Girls High Jump with a leap of 1.40 m.

Katelyn Nicholson placed third with a jump of 1.35 m in the Novice Girls High Jump. She also placed sixth in the Novice Girls 80m Hurdles with a time of 15.70.

Here a list of the other LCCVI athletes who advanced to regionals:

  • Hunter Campbell placed first in the Novice Boys’ Discus with a throw of 40.25 m
  • Ty Moffatt came in third with a time of 16.78 in the Sr. Boys 110 meter hurdles
  • Jack Helps placed third in Jr. Men’s Javelin with a throw of 39.67 m
  • Hunter Kedwell placed fourth in the Novice Boys’ 300m hurdles with a time of 47.90 and Kedwell came in fifth in the Novice Boys’ 100 m hurdles. He also placed fourth in the Novice 100 m Hurdles with a time of 17.74
  • Hunter Duncan placed fourth in the Novice Boys’ 200 m with a time of 24.90 and placed fourth in the Novice Boys’ 200 m dash with a time of 25.04.
  • Charlie Shaw came in fifth in the Sr. Boys 2000 m Steeplechase with a time of 7:14.11
  • Bea Lopez came in fourth with a throw of 19:30 in the Jr. Girls Discus.
  • Maeve O’Brien qualified for regions with a time of 16.05 in the 800 m Hurdles in the Junior division. She also took fifth in the 80 m Jr. Girls Hurdles with a time of 15.94
  • Jace McGrail came in sixth in the 110 m Sr. Boys’ Hurdles.
  • Megan Jaques placed sixth in the Sr. Girls’ Shotput with a throw of 9:12m
  • Michael MacKeller moves on to the OFSSAA Regionals with a sixth place finish in the Novice Boys 3000m finishing with a time of 10:54.51
  • The LCCVi Girls Novice 4x100m relay team qualified after placing fourth.
  • The Sr. Boys 4x100m relay team also qualified for regionals with a sixth place finish.
  • Sarah Douglas also advances in the Novice Girls 3000m with a time of 12:42.58
  • Rachel Clark earned her spot to regionals taking sixth in the Novice Girls 300m hurdles
