Warwick Township residents got their first look at the new East Lambton Community Complex.

The builder turned over the complex – which has been years in the making including more than a year and a half of construction – to the township Oct. 7. Members of the fundraising committee were offering tours of the new building Wednesday evening.

The complex includes renovations to the arena, improving washrooms and change rooms, a new community hall which seats more than 400 and doubles as a gymnasium and the new Y which currently has two full time and five part time employees.

At the open house, officials said the building has not been given the official okay for use yet.

Meantime, officials with the fundraising committee say they are now just shy of raising $1.8 million of the $2 million goal to help pay for the facility.
