Public and Catholic schools in Lambton County will be closed Friday as the region prepares for a winter storm.

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the region saying there is a possibility for a flash freeze Friday morning. Then, strong winds and widespread blowing snow will develop in the morning and continuing into Saturday. Environment Canada is also expecting very cold wind chill values developing Friday.

Late Thursday both the Lambton-Kent District School Board and the St. Clair District Catholic closed schools in advance of the storm, just as students were heading into Christmas break.
