LCCVI still in OFSAA playoff hunt

Both the Lancers girls’ and boys’ hockey teams are still in the playoff hunt at the provincial championships.

LCCVI will play a school from Timmins Wednesday for a chance to advance to the playoff round at the OFSAA Boys A/AA high school hockey tournament in St. Catharines.

The Lancers opened the 16-team tournament Tuesday with a 5-3 loss to the host school but rebounded for a 5-4 win over Roland Michener from South Porcupine later in the day.

Meantime, at the girls tournament in Stratford, LCCVI lost to the host school, 2-1 Tuesday morning and then skated to a 3-3 tie with Napanee. The girls play Dryden Wednesday with a chance to advance to the playoff round as well.

Despite unbeaten regular season and regional championships, the LCCVI boys’ and girls’ hockey clubs were seeded low heading into the tournament
The girls are seeded 11th of 16 teams while the boys are seeded 13th of 16 teams.
