Petrolia yard waste transfer station will again require paid pass
April 2, 2023
Petrolia gardeners who want to bring yard waste to the town transfer station will once again have to pay a fee.
In 2021, the town waived the $25 yearly pass for residents and gave up over $6,000 in revenue. But use of the site increased by about 40 per cent.
Town councillors approved reinstating the $25 yearly pass in 2022 and will continue the practice this year. Town staff noted it works out to under $2 per visit if a gardener would take yard waste to the station for each of the 13 dates it is open.
This year, the transfer station on Maude Street opens April 15. It will be open twice a month for every month except for July, August and November when it will be open once.
