Life jacket, people on jet-ski’s save swimmer who drifted away from Pinery Park

June 7, 2023

Lambton OPP say a life jacket saved the life of a swimmer who was swept away from shore at Pinery Park.

Saturday afternoon, the police got a call that a swimmer in Lake Huron had drifted so far from shore they couldn’t be seen anymore.

Police, local fire departments, the Canadian and US coast guard and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center were called in to help. News of the missing swimmer was broadcast on marine radio which the OPP said led to people on personal watercrafts finding the swimmer, whom they took safely to shore.

“This situation was brought to a successful conclusion due to the individual properly wearing an appropriately sized lifejacket and the willingness of members of the marine community to help others in need,” says Const. Jamie Bydeley in a news release.

Police urge if you are planning to be at the beach, ensure you and your loved ones are wearing a proper life jacket.
