June 21, 2023

The pro rodeo circuit made a stop in Alvinston this weekend and the crowds were there to greet them.

The Alvinston Pro Rodeo – which is run by the Brooke-Alvinston Agricultural Society – teamed up with RawHide Rodeo for three shows over Father’s Day weekend.

Friday, over 700 school children were treated to a rodeo field trip. Three shows followed featuring the local such as Tyler Foster and Rod Weese from Alvinston. Dylan Rumbold of Oil Springs was part of the bronco riding event. Aly Mackey, Blake Sanders and Jaylynn Ferris all of Alvinston were in the Barrel Racing, Pole Bending and Roping events. Hailey Munro, Emilee Langford, Chloe McCallum, Lexi Pendry, Julia Freer of the Petrolia area competed in the same events as did Tamara Weese Noll of Oil City and Taijah Allen from Camlachie, and Dan McAuslan of Petrolia joined the crew as a pickup man.

Dan Cumming of the rodeo organizing committee says this type of event doesn’t happen without a lot of committed volunteers. And he said the rodeo will return in 2024.
