Storm rips through Lambton dropping hail, toppling trees
July 20, 2023
While it appears Alvinston and Sarnia bore the brunt of Thursday’s storm, the weather system did damage around the county.
In Petrolia, a tree toppled onto a home on Eureka Street. Neighbours said the homeowner was at work in Petrolia at the time.

One person was taken to hospital by paramedics around the same time after a crash on Oil Heritage Road just north of Lasalle Line.

Small branches littered the road and just a few hundred feet to the north of the crash, a tree had been knocked down onto a power line.

There were also reports of trees blocking roads in Marthaville and St. Clair Township.
In Sarnia, police were warning of downed trees and power lines. Bluewater Power said at one point, there were about 17,000 customer without power. By 11:40 pm Thursday, around 1,700 were left in the dark, including most of Alvinston.
Crews will continue to work through the night to restore power as quickly as they can.
