Oiler U18’s heading to Silver Stick semi-finals

The Petrolia Oilers U18 team plays in the semi finals today at 2 pm.

The Oilers advanced with two wins Wednesday including a 6-0 win over Mooretown in front of a packed crowd at the Greenwood Recreation Centre.

It is possible the Oilers will play a rematch of that game. Mooretown is also in the semi-finals, taking on Lambton Shores at 3:30 today meaning the finals could be a rematch of Wednesday’s opening tilt.

The Oilers semi-final opponent is Lambeth who beat Ilderton 3-2 Friday morning.

Meantime, the East Lambton Eagles play Dresden in the U18C quarter finals at 9:30 tonight in Petrolia.

In Alvinston; the East Lambton U11 C team takes on Wallaceburg this hour. The Eagles have a win and a tie so far this tournament.

In the U11B game today, it’s a Mooretown Petrolia showdown. The Oilers and the Flags are both 1-1 so far at the Alvinston Silver Stick tournament. Game time is 2:25pm.

LCCVI’s Zelenchuk win boys’ singles tennis crown

Yarko Zelecnhuk won the boys’ singles banner at the LKSSAA north division tennis tournament this week. The LCCVI student will now advance to the overall LK championship tournament next Tuesday in Chatham. Grant backstops Flyers to home ice win
