PETROLIA’S BRANDON, KINGS WIN OHL OPENER

Petrolia’s Gage Brandon scored the first goal of the game early in the first period and assisted on the game-tying goal with just over six minutes left in the third period as the top-ranked Vaughan Kings beat the Oakville Rangers, 4-3 in overtime in the opening game of the OHL Cup this morning.
Brandon was credited with seven shots on goal.
Bright’s Grove’s Matteo Craievich of the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks and Aamjiwnaang’s Darrius Sinopole of the London Jr. Knights will both play their opening games at the tournament later today.
