US Border Control finds 266 pounds of cocaine heading to Canada

US Border Services has found 266 pounds of cocaine in the wall of a truck bound for Canada.

In a news release, officials say an x-ray scan and physical inspection of an outbound tractor trailer was conducted by officers and a K-9 team. They found 100 bricks of suspected narcotics concealed behind a false wall in the trailer. It was confirmed to be cocaine through subsequent testing. 

The cocaine the truck and trailer were seized. The driver, a Canadian citizen, will face prosecution in St. Clair County. The driver’s name has not yet been released.

US Homeland Security is still investigating the incident.

Both Port Lambton teams topped the Chatham Diamonds on Saturday at the Western Counties Senior baseball season opened in Wallaceburg. The Pirates’ 22u team downed the Diamonds, 11-0 and the Port Lambton senior club beat Chatham, 12-2. Chatham fell to 0-3 on Sunday bowing 9-0 to Dresden.
