Pedestrian killed on Walpole Island

A 47 year-old Walpole Island pedestrian is dead after being hit on Austin Road.
Lambton OPP were called to the island around 3 am Sunday with the Walpole Island First Nation police for a vehicle/pedestrian accident to Austin Road between Creek and River Road.
Police believe the pedestrian was on the roadway. The vehicle fled the scene.
Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call 1-888-310-1122.

Classic cars on display in Alvinston

The Independent Well over 55 cars and antique tractors lined River Street in Alvinston on Sunday for the annual car show hosted by Brooke-Alvinston and the Alvinston Royal Canadian Legion branch. Despite the high temperatures, people stopped to look at some of the classics. The event is part of the community’s Canada Day celebrations.
