Camlachie fire chief with 45 years of service not slowing down
November 14, 2024
Camlachie District Chief Scott Jordan says he still has the fire to be a volunteer firefighter.
Jordan was recognized for 45 years in the service at Plympton-Wyoming council Wednesday. He received a certificate from Mayor Gary Atkinson and a plaque from Acting Plympton-Wyoming Chief William Davidson.
“I definitely didn’t plan this 45 years ago,” he told councillors. But, Jordan says, he’s enjoyed working with the town and working with the staff. “It just inspired me to keep going.”
Jordan has seen many changes in the fire service, including the amalgamation of the municipality and of the Camlachie and Wyoming fire departments.
The District Chief told councillors he plans to “keep doing what I’m doing and hopefully, I have a few more years left in me.”
