Recognizing community service to Watford

December 31, 2024

Scott Dagg thinks Scouting is the best way to give back to his community.

‘Scouter Scott’ as he’s known to many, has been leading Scouts 30 years. Dec. 11, Warwick Mayor Todd Case honoured him for his work.

Scouting, he says, is “the way that I think I can best enjoy to give back to the community.

“The mission of Scouting is about making well rounded citizens for the next generation. And I really believe strongly in that. If I’m going to pass along anything, it is that I’m going to model behavior that I think the next generation as adult citizens would be adding value to the community.”

Scouter Scott is often recognized by kids who had been through the program. Others call him up to chat or even stop by for a visit at Christmas. That, says Dagg is meaningful.

“It mattered to them and I meant something to them, and hopefully I’ve had a positive influence on their lives.”

Dagg says its particularly meaningful to receive the honour from Case, who himself spends a lot of time volunteering in the community.

Case also presented the Mayor’s Honour to Anne Jenkins.

She’s been a Guide Leader for over 48 years.

This is the first year Case is giving out the award to people who provide community service “at a high level” and this year it shows “appreciation and recognition of their outstanding service, dedication, and leadership to Watford Guiding and Scouting.”
