January 31, 2025

The Petrolia Flyers jumped to a 3-0 lead after a period on minor hockey night and coasted to a 6-2 win over the Aylmer Spitfires at Greenwood Recreation Centre on Thursday.

It was Petrolia’s fifth straight PJHL win and improved their Yeck division-leading record to 25-10-3.

Austin Harper (below) and Parker Davidson both scored twice for the winners with the others going to Ethan Flintoff and Tobias Iantorno. Owen Peters added a pair of assists.

Ethan Everaert bounced back from a rough start last week to block 28 of 30 shots for his 12th goaltending win of the season. He had a shutout going until Jackson Dobbin, the son of Petrolia’s Brian Dobbin, scored twice in the final ten minutes of play for the Spits.

The same two teams play on Saturday at Greenwood. Puck drop is 7:30.
