Lambton-Kent defeats LCCVI in a shoot out for the LK title

February 24, 2025

The Lambton-Kent Cardinals are the Lambton-Kent Boys hockey champions.

The Cards defeated three-time LK champs 2-1 in a shootout at Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Arena in Dresden Monday.

Max Avery got the Cards on the scoreboard midway through the second.

Roen Douglas tied it up for the Lancers with 3:23 left in the third.

An overtime period did not settle the game which went to a shootout.

Avery scored the only goal in the shootout lifting Lambton-Kent past last year’s OFSAA silver medalists.

Kyler Van Esse had the win in net for the Cards.

LK hosts the SWOSSAA final in Dresden 2 pm Thursday. With a win the Cards advances to OFSAA.

It would also give LCCVI a second chance to go to OFSAA in a challenge round. SWOSSAA has two berths to the final because LCCVI won silver at the tournament last year.
