Flyers could win Yeck semi-final Thursday

March 16, 2025

The Petrolia Flyers will head to Mt. Brydges on Tuesday night with a chance to stamp its ticket to the PJHL’s Yeck Division championship series.

The Flyers lead the best-of-seven semi-final series, three games to two after a 3-2 home ice win before 482 fans on Sunday afternoon.

Austin Harper scored the game-winner goal with just over seven minutes left in regulation time just 34 seconds after the Bulldogs had tied the contest.

Lucas Rogers tallied in the opening period for the winners with Tobias Iantorno added a second period tally. Iantorno also had two assists while Harper had a goal and a helper. Logan Crummy had two assists.

Ethan Everaert made 38 stops to improve his playoff record to 5-0 with a goals-against average of 1.88 and a .942 save percentage.

Sunday’s game was a penalty filled match with a major fight which sent five players to the box. There players, Noah Cameron and Ben Landers from Mt. Brydges and Noah Harse from Petrolia were given game misconducts.

One of the Bulldogs also suffered a major gash after being hit with a skate on his arm during the game. The team didn’t provide details on his condition but did thank Flyers Trainer Bob Bressette who rushed onto the ice to help during the emergency. “Hockey is more than just a sport and in that moment it showed again,” wrote the club on its social media pages.

The Bulldogs had evened the series at two games each with a 6-4 win in Mt. Brydges on Saturday. They scored the winner with less than five minutes to play in regulation time and added an empty net goal two minutes later.

Rogers, Iantorno, Cam Davidson and Ethan Flintoff scored for the Flyers.

If a seventh game is necessary, it’ll be played in Petrolia on Thursday night.
