Teen faces assault with a weapon charges after Petrolia pellet gun incident

A 14 year-old is facing assault with a weapon charges after three people were shot with a pellet gun in Petrolia.

Lambton OPP were called to Tank Street in Petrolia around 5 pm Sunday after three pedestrians were shot from a distance with a pellet gun on Tank Street.

Police say one person was injured. The victims didn’t know the suspect.

OPP found the suspect and took them into custody.

The 14 year-old faces three counts of assault with a weapon and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose. The teen’s name is protected under the Ontario Youth Justice Act. He’s been released from custody to return to court in Sarnia “at a later date” according to police.

Officers are also looking for anyone who may have seen the incident to help with information in the case.
