It’s the first time in the club’s history

The third time was the charm for the Petrolia Flyers. In late breaking news, the team defeated Exeter 3-0 game six of the PJHL’s Yeck Division final Tuesday night.

Austin Harper, Andrew Jaque, and Miller Mailloux all scored in the third period to secure the win. Rhett Joy, Lucas Rogers and Ethan Flintoff had the assists. Elijah Grant had 27 stops for the win.

The win comes after a tough week. After taking the first three games of the series, the Flyers lost twice over the weekend shaving its series lead to three games to two.

Friday, in Exeter, Carter Bowerman scored a power play goal at 17:48 of the third period to give the Hawks a 3-2 win before a crowd of 1,012 fans in Exeter.

Sunday afternoon before a season-high-crowd of more than 800 fans at Greenwood, the Hawks hung on for a 4-2 victory. Ryan Richardson scored back-to-back power play goals in the final frame to cut the Exeter lead to 3-2, but the Flyers couldn’t find the equalizer. The Hawks iced the game in the waning seconds on an empty net goal by Ben Nauta.

The Flyers will now take on either Essex in the West Conference final.
